Terms & Conditions - FAQ's

For a detailed version of our terms & conditions please click here.

We are a newly established company. Below are common questions we are asked about our terms & conditions by our clients whilst providing consultation on various projects. We understand all that legal mumbo jumbo gets a bit much, so we'll try our best to explain it all in laymen's terms! If you require more information after reading this, please feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Who owns my web site?

You own your own website. Once you have paid the balancing payment to us, we transfer all copyright of the web site design to you. The only exceptions are to elements where copyright already exists - examples of which include, but not limited to:

  • Software systems and specialised scripts written and owned by E Website Factory Limited or any other third parties: In these cases, you are granted license to use these only within your web site, you cannot claim ownership or sell these systems/scripts to any other company or body either in whole or in part. Examples of these include, but not limited to: shoppping cart software/scripts, mailing scripts, bulletin boards (discussion forums), database management systems/scripts, search engine scripts.
  • Stock photography: usually, you will buy a license to use these images on your own web site, but the copyright and ownership of the image remains with the photographer.

Do you have any restrictions as to what business sites you will design?

If your site contains material that is deemed illegal by E website Factory Limited or under the UK law, then we regret that we will be unable to design your web site for you.

Why do you want the byline 'e Website factory' placed at the foot of the design?

This is similar to an artist placing their signature to their work - it's also beneficial to our search engine ranking as it gives us a valuable back link to our web site - we of course reciprocate this by uploading your whole web site into the sample sites of our own website for a period as seen fit by E Website Factory Limited, this will help promote you. It also ensures any technical queries raised by your web site user can be forwarded directly to us if you so wish so that we may act on them accordingly leaving you free to concentrate in running your business more efficiently. It will also demonstrate that you took the necessary steps to acquire a professional web site.

If I decide to cancel the project, can I have my deposit back?

Yes, but this depends on the conditions on which you are cancelling. In general, we will subtract the costs for any work we have already completed, plus any other costs that are involved in ceasing or termination of the project, example include, but not limited to, third party services purchased on behalf of you prior to the cancellation. You will be fully invoiced for any charges. If the cost of the work we have completed exceeds the deposit you have paid, we will invoice you for the remainder of the costs.

Can I get a refund on my domain name if I cancel?

No - Nominet registers all domain names in the UK, and they have a strict no-refund policy that is beyond our control.

Is it required that I have my site hosted on a server arranged by yourselves?

No - you are free to use any web hosting company of your choice, as long as their server space has all the necessary features required to run your site. We can recommend several hosts for you to look at. Please note that free ISP (Internet Service Provider) web space is not suitable for running a professional business site for a multitude of reasons. Also, the same can apply for many budget web-hosting companies, so please choose your hosting space carefully.

Why can't I find my web site in the search engines?

Once your site has been submitted to the top Search Engines they may require several weeks, or even months to actually spider and list your web site in their directory. How fast your site is listed depends on each individual Search Engines database update schedule.

What size screen resolution do you design your websites for?

Most sites are designed for 800x600 computer screens (measured in pixels - there are approximately 72 pixels to an inch - this equates to approximately 11.1" x 8.3").
